In all honesty, we encountered Mother Nature’s soap - the soap berry - completely by happenstance. We were in India, natural-dying organic linens for our ecological design company, aiure, and hunting for a detergent that would not degenerate the plant-essence or quality of the linens.
That’s when we learned about the soap berry, an age-old solution still used in rural communities for cleaning just about everything. We took them home and turned our kitchens and bathrooms into laboratories. We hand - and machine-washed every fabric we could find: delicates, cashmere, turmeric-stained dish towels, carpets (...!). The results were remarkable - stains, marks, dirt and odors all disappeared without any color fading, skin sensitivity, or use of artificial chemicals. Our fabrics were fresh, fluffy, and clean. They even had the natural scent of having been line-dried! All this with no residue is left on fabrics, skin, or flushed into the environment after washing.
Eager to make soap berries available and convenient for homecare, we assembled a team with 20+ years of experience with the berries to produce our innovative home-cleaning collection, Nature First by aiure. Ironically, packaging our products has been the most challenging part of our business so far as we are committed using materials that - like soap berries - leave no trace.
Mother Nature has a perfect solution for everything.
